Douglas Dubler Fine Art Prints

DOUGLAS DUBLER PRINT PRICING & INFORMATION
ALL IMAGES ARE AVAILABLE AS FINE ART PAPER & METAL PRINTS
During the early days of his professional career, Douglas had the privilege of being mentored by the renowned Ansel Adams. Ansel impressed upon all who knew him that the art of photography was manifest in the photographic print. Douglas took that advice to heart in his 20’s, and began a life long passion in pursuing photographic print excellence. Included in his journey were silver gelatin ( He taught Ansel’s Zone System for over 20 years ), dye transfer, Fresson, Cibachrome, platinum and last in the list, the Fine Art Digital print. In those early days, inkjet prints had a longevity with their dye inks of about two years. In just a few years, that increased to over 100 years, together with a color gamut unmatched by any chemistry based process. He was a member in a small group of people, the Epson Stylus Pros, who were responsible for Epson’s eventual domination of the ink jet photographic printing market. At the same time, Douglas was a consultant for X-Rite. He is one of 18 people in the U.S. to be acknowledged as a Master Coloratti (
X-Rite Coloratti Douglas Dubler
) X-Rite has been an industry leader in developing both the hardware and software for color management. The illusive alchemy of science and art that determines what your print will look like. His particular area of expertise is in making custom profiles which is the final and most important step in the color management process. Together with his mastery of Phase One’s Capture One software, Douglas has developed a system for exposing, processing and printing digital images which emulates Ansel’s Zone System. Dubler's prints, simply put, have to be seen. Print sizes up to 17” X 22” are printed in Dubler's studio and larger prints are printed at another location by Douglas. All prints are closely examined by Douglas before they are shipped. These archival prints are painstakingly created on state-of-the-art printers. We work with a variety of papers including both fine art matte papers and baryta photographic papers. The metal prints are created by Blazing Editions, which is one of the premier photographic printers in North America. The print substrate (i.e. paper or metal) is chosen specifically for each image so that every image will be rendered with the highest possible resolution and the widest color gamut. A selection of Douglas’s most iconic images are now being offered as Limited Edition archival prints.

For my prints we use the latest printers and both matte and baryta (barium sulfate) papers that have permanence ratings of 100 to 150 years and beyond. Depending on the paper choice and how the images are stored the life expectancy of these prints can range from 100 years up to 300 years as noted by the fine folks at Wilhelm Imaging Research, Inc. (www.wilhelm-research.com), who conduct research on the stability and preservation of traditional and digital color photographs. The Metal prints offered here are also of the highest quality and have been rated for up to 65+ years by Wilheim Imaging Research.
